Oliver Leisten

Oliver Leisten has over 30 years’ experience in the radio communications industry and holds a PhD for his work on aspects of solid-state microwave electronics. He began his work on dielectric-loaded, multi-filar helix antennas whilst at Symmetricom Ltd and founded his first company as an MBO in September 2000 in order to commercialise this work. Dr Leisten developed a manufacturing process that is based on bespoke laser lithography and developed a market for these antenna products, with 40 patent families of proprietary technology.

Dr Leisten is unquestionably the world’s foremost expert in the field of dielectric-loaded multi-filar antennas, and invented the concept, with the patents in the field as the named inventor.

Hiba Abdelali

Hiba Abdelali is an electromagnetic/RF specialist and has over 7 years experience in solving antenna and microwave component-related  problems.  She holds a PhD from  the Faculté des Sciences de Tunis, Université de Tunis El Manar, where she investigated the characterisation of eco-friendly, low-cost, light-weight and flexible substrates based on reflection methods up to 6GHz, and developed techniques for enhancing the bandwidth, gain and radiation efficiency of ultra wide-band antennas.

In cooperation with the University of Pavia, italy , she developed cost-effective and innovative  eco-friendly manufacturing processes using flexible and ecological materials for  the test and measurement of antennas and band-pass filters in ultra wide-band applications

Dr. Abdelali won the Student Challenge competition award at EuMW Conference 2014 held in Rome, Italy and won the best third paper in the IDT 2016 Conference held in Hamamet, Tunisia.

Dr Evangelos Mellios

Dr Evangelos Mellios has over 10 years of experience in the wireless communications sector. Evangelos received a PhD in Wireless Communications from the University of Bristol in 2014, an MSc in Communication Systems and Signal Processing from the University of Bristol in 2008, and a Diploma (5-years curriculum) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2007.

After working as postgraduate and postdoctoral researcher on several projects in the field of antennas and radio propagation, Evangelos was appointed as Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Bristol in 2015. His world-leading research in 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and IoT wireless communication systems has led to more than 70 journal and conference publications, and his work has influenced significantly the 3GPP global standards for 4G and 5G wireless channel modelling and system development. Evangelos is also a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Bristol, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Vacancy

We are always looking for talented antenna designers to join our Harwell-based design team. You’ll be using state-of-the-art electromagnetic simulation and optimisation tools to design dielectric-loaded, multifilar helix antennas to meet specific customer requirements.

The ideal candidate will have research experience of solving electro-magnetic science/engineering problems at post-graduate level and experience of electro-magnetic simulation – preferably with the CST Microwave Studio Suite.
